I am a huge fan of sharing links on Facebook. Webinars, white papers, blog posts, etc. Anything fellow business owners and marketers can use, I try to share. And, when sharing a link, Facebook automatically takes the title of the page (the title that is shown in the top bar of your browser window), the first few lines of text for the link description (even hidden text within the code of the page) and even a thumbnail of images on the page.

Many times when I’ve tried to share links, I hit my “Share on Facebook” bookmark on my browser’s favorites bar only to see a generic, non-descript title and summary text that’s totally irrelevant to the link.

Seems to me if one wants to optimize content to be shared, one would do well to ensure your titles and descriptions support the content one would like to be shared. It would increase the likelihood that it gets shared, as well as the likelihood it gets clicked on after it has been shared.
