Search Engine Marketing “Live”

Jul 4th, 2010No Comments

For some reason I still meet and talk with entrepreneurs and SMB owners who resist, and even FEAR (for various reasons), search engine marketing.

I ask, what is it they don’t like about it? The ability to target prospective customers to a degree not available by any other form of media? The fact that you can precisely control your budget? The fact that you can measure results and make changes in real time and tie its results right back to the budget? The fact that is has BEEN PROVEN (a billion times over) to work?

Who knows, but it’s disheartening. It’s like a drowning man refusing a life preserver. Honestly, I don’t get it.

So here is what I’m going to do to prove to any Doubting Thomas I come across from here on out. I am going to explain, illustrate, explain and track, right here in this blog, my own search engine marketing effort. From keyword research to getting my Google AdWords campaigns running, organic search results and measurements. All of it.

I’m a true marketer at my core, so everything needs a name. I’m calling this “Search Engine Marketing Live.” Why? Because I liked how it sounded. :)

This is a brand new website, and I recently changed completely the focus of my business (coaching and consulting rather than web design and development), so I am basically starting from scratch.

One thing I will not do however is tell you HOW I am doing what I’m doing because that’s what I get paid for. No free consulting friends. Sorry. (But I’d love to talk to you about one of our programs or services!)

This is going to be a pain staking process because to document everything I do for this project will take a lot of extra time. But if it gets the entrepreneurs and SMB owners off the stick and actively marketing their business it will be worth it.

And I don’t want to hear another bad word about it! :)

I will also be including “Search Engine Marketing Live” in email newsletters too, so make sure you sign up for that, or grab the RSS feed for this blog.

I look forward to your questions and comments.

Happy Independence Day!
